Hello friends!
Earlier this month I got to tell you about my next book, Honey Bee Mine, which will be releasing in February. In case you missed it, here’s the adorable cover!
The book is set in upstate New York, near the Finger Lakes area that is rich in beauty, greenery, water, and honey (and also where I am as I write this newsletter!)! The first seeds of this Honey Bee Mine were planted during a vacation last year, when we gathered with family in the Finger Lakes region. Place is a very important part of my writing, and I knew that any future books I’d write would need to be firmly rooted in their setting, so I spent my time here paying a lot of attention and taking a lot of pictures.
This area is SO vastly different from Tucson. It’s green, lush, humid, and wet. Water is everywhere—filling lakes and streams, pouring from the sky, and dripping down cliff walls. Long grass and wildflowers take up every unmanaged space, the days are so long it’s easy to miss sunset altogether. I soaked it all in.

I then drafted Honey Bee Mine over the course of several months once I was back home in the desert. I consulted my photos and memories often, as well as doing a lot of Googling for things like sunset times, wildflower schedules, and temperatures.
Then, just in time for my cover reveal and final line edits, I got to come back!
I’ve spent the last 10 days on a lake in this region, going out on daily adventures to look around. It’s so special to be here as I put the finishing touches on my book, and during every outing I’ve sent myself multiple emails with notes of things to add in (ie. “add song sparrows” and one email that just says “clover”). I see Honey Bee Mine’s stars, Penny and Zander, around every corner—driving down wooded roads, working at a farmer’s market, and walking down Main Street in each small town we pass.

Preorder links up!
Before I head back to my last day of vacation, I wanted to tell you one last thing: We have preorder links!
If you’re inclined to preorder Honey Bee Mine now, you can find relevant links on my website: SarahTDubb.com. I’ll be doing some sort of signed pre-order campaign through a local indie bookstore, but I don’t have those details to share just yet. But as soon as I know more, I’ll share it here first!
XOXOXO
Sarah
Great cover!
